I tried that already. but cannot get it to work on notebook.. anywhere got step by step ah? With my PDA, no problem.. with notebook, unsolvable problem la.

Even with the com0com still cannot connect with nroute and mapsource.

Had you change the com0com registry to com4 & com5? The nroute will not detect the comport name CNCA0 and CNCB0.

Not sure if i did that.. but what i rememeber is that i tried all kinds of settings but never work.

I assume you have a working setup of the Holux and your Notebook? Will it be possible for you to write a step by step guide for notebook and non garmin GPSr here ? please..?

hmm having similar problems as prometheus, somehow with com0com installed it creates the virtual ports, but nroute is not able to detect it, then went and downloaded the trial version of gpsgate(http://franson.com/gpsgate/) and test it, and it works, no need gpsproxy n com0com, just install gpsgate and it works, but its trial so you have to pay to get the full version. usd 10 and usd30...

Finally i received myself a Holux GPSlim236 today! I ordered it thru Practical Solutions on Tuesday 7am, and got it today at 11am! Not bad. Bought it for USD99, inclusive of worldwide free delivery! I think thats a good price though! No problem with the custom side, coz they declared it as a gift of USD20!

I have gone thru the steps found at malsingmaps, and now it is working like a charm! No problem so far... just that there is no much to "fully utilise" in my area. Will wait till i go back KL and try it out!
Am using my old iPaq h2210 to pair with it.

There is so much to learn in the coming days, and hope I can be enlightened by all the sifus and gurus here at myPDAcafe!

Great to see that thsi thread has been tagged by practical solutions.. The price is ok though..

Anyway.. I have successfully used GPS gate for PC with Garmin Nroute. (i still can't use the com 0 com method)
Only thing is that its only a 15 day trial for gps gate. SO if anyone can help with that problem, please pm me. TQ.

Eltima creates more virtual ports that can be used for other apps, unlike GPSGate which is specifically for GPS apps.

Alright!! the GPS gate version2 for PC "works" perfectly already. I got the necessary info for a permanent solution. PM me for details.

With GPS gate 2.0 for PC version, i can now use Garmin nroute with my holux gpslim236!!! on my notebook.. Biggger map while travelling! WOOO HOOO!!!
