I've managed to complete the download for BDM4.7, installed it, synch'ed all my Blackberrys, but couldn't find any significant changes to the previous version.

Maybe the changes are in the other areas I haven't tried yet.

If anyone's interested, here's another link for downloading the BDM 4.7

EDIT: 22 DEC 2008
It is not advisable to use BDM 4.7 if you're on a Mac and using it under VMWare Fusion. On a Mac, the 4.6 is more stable.

I noticed that with BDM 4.7 we have the option to do downgrade/upgrade BB device software as visually shown below. That's what I found so far :) or probably this is an old feature I've overlooked before

Yes, that's a new feature on BDM 4.7.

Sadly I have something odd to report re: the new BDM, which is that when using it to backup my third party apps on my 8220, it doesn't back up every app. It consistently keeps ignoring to backup the same apps all the time.

When I uninstalled it and reinstalled BDM 4.6, I found that all my third party apps on the 8220 were backed up as they should be.

I don't know whether this is only between the 8220 and BDM 4.7 or it affects all the Blackberry models. I know I have half the entire BB lineup, but this time I'll let some of you have the pleasure of trying it out and seeing for yourself whether it affects your BB model too.

I don't know if the last time I tried BDM 4.7 and found I couldn't back up all apps from my 8220 was a one-off affair.

I have subsequently found that BDM 4.7 is able to back up all my third party apps, as well as for the Bold. Maybe the connections were faulty the time when I tried and couldn't do it.

For any of you guys running BDM with Media Manager, you need to patch your system. If the your file version is 6.0.100.65100 or earlier, you need to upgrade Desktop Manager.

Here's how to do it.

Here are the links for the BDM 4.7 with Roxio Media Manager. I have verified that the security vulnerability mentioned by s16ri is not present on this version. I know there's not a lot of trust on the Internet (as should be the case haha) so you may like to verify for yourself that the "agent.exe" file in this BDM is later than ver 6.0.100.65100.

N.B. In case you haven't been following the discussion, the file "agent.exe" with Ver 6.0.100.65100 or earlier means it needs to be replaced with a newer one. This BDM already contains a newer version of that file so installing it means you will no longer be affected by the security vulnerability as mentioned in the following RIM link:
http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/articles ... ublic.html

You need to unRar the three files below so that they become one. The file is about 211Mb in size once it has been successfully un-Rar'ed. Under Windows, use WinRAR or something similar. For Mac users, try UnRarX which you can find at http://www.unrarx.com. It's free, btw.

Dear Tony / gfunk11,

Thank you very much for your insight, suggestion and opinion to my earlier post at BLACKBERRY BOLD 9000.

After reading feedbacks on the Bold, it's requirement for daily battery charging and availability at Celcom/Blue Cube, I have selected the Curve 8310 and loving every bit of it. With it's features it is indeed a true Smart phone.

I have updated the BDM from stock 4.2 to 4.7 and the BB OS from stock 4.2.2 to 4.5.0.81. The update to 4.5.0.81 has much more additional features, video recording, possible edit of Words and Excel documentations, etc.. However, i noticed the ring tones are softer than the stock BB OS version 4.2.2 and volume tones for medium and high selection doesn't seems to hv any difference, both are the same.

Has anyone encounter similar case? In the BDM Appliccation Loader, there are other 4.5 versions for the OS. Any of you guys tried the various versions before? What are the differences with 4.5.0.81?

I agree, the Curve series is very easy to love.

The latest OS for the 8310 is ver 102. You can find it here

Tony, once again many thanks for the link!

Did some searching and managed to find info on latest update 4.5.0.110 @ crankberry.com [url] http://forums.crackberry.com/f52/newest ... ge-114364/

Downloaded last nite n upgraded for my phone. Ring tone seems louder and memory slight increased. Will see whether hv effect on battery standby/talktime.

Found tv series "Jack Bauer 24 CTU Phone Ringtone" @ crankberry.com [url] http://crackberry.com/ringtone/ctu-24h- ... jack-bauer which i hv been searching high and low. Real cool on my Curve.

Good for you that you got the latest version. Coincidentally, the changes were pretty rapid for the 8310. I gave you the link for 102 on Wednesday , then on Thursday Telefonica Mexico released Ver 108, and then right after that AT&T released Ver 110 on Friday.

Yes thanks for the heads up. I downloaded it last week, but haven't upgraded the 8320 yet. :)

Have done the 110 upgrade for the 8820 though. It's really tough when there's so many Blackberrys to upgrade. The part which irritates me most is having to reinstall the settings and registrations for my third party apps over and over again. I wish they could retain stuff like that, but RIM have never done it and I guess never will.
