Malaysia First routable map available in mapking

Postby Kiding » Tue May 24, 2005 10:24 pm

Mapking has released Klang Valley Map for it pocketpc GPS software - mapking, i have used this software in Taiwan this January, quite impressive for the features. mapking offers

2D/3D navigation
Voice intruction (in Chinese or English)
Dynamic routing
Way point and POI adding and import.
GPS Trace recording and playback

the map is 10 times beautiful than mappolish and garmin map, the coverage of Klang Valley is pretty wide and detail, however, some of the roads are not up to date, playing with it today from subang to selayang, it did give the best route to the destination, and on the way back to Technology Park Malaysia, it does do a decent job, but the road map for the bukit jalil is not up-to-date at all.

You can download it from
http://www.matlastech.com/mk7/download.htm

it only has 3 days trial, and I still don't know how to buy it from website, the website selling Manila, Bangkok maps but no KL map.

It supports my BT GPS very well, get fix in just a few seconds, faster than mappolish and pocketmv.

tried it. quite impressed. but my key worry is, the kl map doesn't get updated soon enough. unlike the garmin maps, which are being updated at a very frequent rate.

hi all,

i am new to GPS and i am hoping someone would guide me. i bought a holux gpslim 236 to use with my Siemens SX66 (same as XDA IIs but without camera) and the GPSr is being charged now while i am looking for software.

i came across MapKing7 and found it really interesting so i installed it on my XDA. my question is, over at www.malsingmaps.com they have updated Garmin maps with auto-routing features so i was wondering if there is an application which can convert Garming (.img) maps to MapKing format (.mk7)?

Surely no. Mapking use its map to cari makan and has its own proprietary format. Too time consuming & costly to convert from one to another.

MapKing just released the new maps for asia major city, but the kl map still remain the same, too many errors that I can't trust it at all.

I think the KL map for MapKing is now updated to June 2005 version.

This latest map still lists KFC present at the Klang side entrance to Subang Jaya! I don't know how much else is out of date.
Still it is the first routable map. Hope they can update it

PocketMV is promising as it can use the Garmin routable maps but the author needs to enable the routing feature.....
