Hi Celcom3G data card users,

I am using Maxis 3G datacard. I am looking forward to swap my Maxis 3G datacard with you to test the speed and coverage. I bought Maxis datacard for my new home in Cheras. but regretfully say that there were zero coverage at my new place.

Anyone interested, please PM me.

I'm not sure what is the max speed that we can obtain from Celcom's 3G network. So far, the max I could get is around 150~170 kbps at my place. Not very sure about other places. I've maximize my computer's capabilities, i.e. connecting computer & my Moto A1000 on USB 2.0 system. I connect at a max baud rate of 921.6 kbps for USB and 935 kbps for bluetooth connection. I'm sure that's more than enough for Celcom's advertised 384 kbps.

Max signal strength I could get indoor in my house is 3 out of 5 bars. I am not sure about the max speed that can achieve if I'm connected with full bar signal. But I think it should not make a very big difference.

Yeah.. it should not make any difference. The telco need to optimise further on the network side.

I am ready to swap my Maxis SIM as it will not make any difference whether I use or not since i subscribe to the monthly RM120 package.

For Celcom3G, if you are worry of your Celcom 3GSIM card, it's alright, I have my own celcom 3Gsim card, but it will cost me a lot when i start to do big file transfer testing.

Well, I'm on Celcom's 3G Unlimited Package with RM150 per month. I just recently finished my 3 months free trial given by Celcom. My average usage for the past 3 months was around RM 1500. But all received a rebate from my bill. So, it's free for the 1st 3 months you sign up. Anyway, if you still wish to continue browsing Internet on your laptop or desktop computer, you are advised to subscribe the Unlimited Browsing Package, a day before your 3 months trial expires.

I think I should make noise to Celcom once again for the 3G Internet browsing SPEED. I think I rather use TMnet streamyX if Celcom can't provide 384kbps on 3G. I prefer this Celcom's Unlimited because I can use it when I'm back to my hometown in Penang or at my relatives house within Klang Valley. If Celcom continues to give only 128kbps but charge my for RM150, just for mobility, I would choose to terminate this service at anytime.

To eddychew:
What is the exact location of sentul you stay? I think I need to try it in that area and see how's the performance of this Celcom. To my understanding, Celcom's 3G coverage is still the widest. It covers many part of KL (esp Kepong and Cheras area) where maxis3G, A new vision, service could not be found at all.

To Edoras:
I've confimed that Celcom's 3G speed can somwhow reached 384kbps in Ampang area. But I'm not pretty sure are you staying in that place. So far, Celcom has no problem on its 3G coverage along MRR2 and MTB PRIME highway (from Gombak toll till Genting Sempah Tunnel).

1 bar signal strength on 2100MHz system still provide excellent voice connection. 1 bar signal strength gives no interruption to video call.[/b]

I think my area @ UKP and also surrounding areas in Ulu Kelan, Ampamg hv good reception.

I test with streaming video from Dato Keramat to UKP and was excellent! Only one drop call near my house - a blind spot there...

Today's speed...

 ok....even finally somehow..Celcom 3G datacard coverage at my working place also can get max384kpbs...it no joke...

oh, i am staying in Taman Dato Senu, surfing inside my room...not near window but middle of the room where i can get the aircon blowing at me...hehehe

My office where i work is near to international school or computer form company..Setapak
Try to download from www.download.com.

One thing though, the speed do fluctuate...but once u do CoolStreaming which i did for my yesterday EPSN game between Chealsea vs Arsenal....u can see maxxxx DL at 384kps...but still laggy..
For internet streaming...best stick to 512kbpss or 1MBkbps...cheaper lagi..

Celcom 3G datacard more for mobility almost anywhere in klang valley...no need WIFI...or sitting near starbuck...etc.
and importantly...Celcom have much much much better coverage compared to Maxis 3G datacard..

Oh ya,we can even do voice call thru Celcom 3G datacard....Maxis 3G datacard cannot....

but connecting using normal phone is the better choice right?
no need to buy expensive data card.
i think having both 3g phone and data card are redundant and waste of money.
