Gov. wants to register all prepaid card holders?

Postby digitalkl » Mon Jun 20, 2005 10:21 am

They are now talking about registering prepaid users. My question is will this really be implemented or talk only. And will existing prepaid holders have to register as well? Will it even work?

Should I run out and buy my prepaid sim card now to avoid this registering? :?:

Yalor I hope its NATO.

They want to register them not to promote things but to keep track because like in thailand, people use handphones to set off bombs. and we malaysians use handphones to send obscene or threatening sms etc. so the gov. wants to keep track of these prepaid users.

HELLO! don't shout @ me,what happening in neighbor country might happened over here, nobody is wrong but after 911 everthing is possible afterall they can made handmade bombs by getting info from net with our cheap prepaid card,it's they powerful weapons! or should the government takes action only after it's happening ? yes, registered prepaid is silly(what's the point of having prepaid then) but that's always a win-win solution to counter it...:-)

I thought that currently most people already register their prepaids to the telcos to get bonuses like extra RM10 talk time and stuff right?
This is a sign of a sign that was not signed at the time of signning :P

no maxis oso same, you get rm10 if you send in some kind of registration form. but with those you can fill in any fake name you want.

what if the gov wants to see your IC or photostat it when you buy a new prepaid sim card in the future?

i think both sides have their points.

i can understand if the govt. wants to keep track of those who abuse the SMS service but then the govt. must also understand that these people are only a handful, so they shouldn't let a few bad apples spoil the whole bunch, if you know what i mean.

I think certain country need registration from the customer even it is still a prepaid card. Anyway, in sri lanka when I worked there the last time, they need to photostat my passport cover. I asked them why they said, in case there's a terrorist threat or any kind of illegal actitivies, they can trace back to the owner of the number

I think it's kinda measurement and prevention for watever cause..
PDA : IPAQ3900 -> XDA II Mini -> Dopod 838 Pro -> HTC 3600i -> Iphone 16GB

"Should I run out and buy my prepaid sim card now to avoid this registering? "
Why should you do that, anything wrong with them knowing who you are?
If they want all the prepaid user to be registered, they will give you a grace period to register, so if yu buy now to avoid been registered, later they will ask you to register or else they will terminate your line after a certain period.

"They want to register them not to promote things but to keep track because like in thailand, people use handphones to set off bombs. and we malaysians use handphones to send obscene or threatening sms etc. so the gov. wants to keep track of these prepaid users."

If the pro want to do these type of thing they can also register using fake IC, or they can use stolen or lost card!

if a knife is use to stab people, does that mean we have to register all knifes being sold? come on ....

They did not register the knife when it was invented, now if they want to register the knif youkeep at home they cnt do anything, but prepaid they can you dont register they can alway barr your line for a period of time after that they can terminate it, of course I am not saying that they are right and you are wrong.

In fact ther ministry ppl make a stupid comment, they said that they have given ample time for the Telco to implement it voluntary, but they Telco did not comply./ The Telco tried to comply by encouraging customer to register, to gualify for the RM10(X-pax and Hotlinkl) or Simguard and birthday bonus (DiGi), how can thay say Telco did not comply?? Telco can only encourage but not forcing. Only Minister can ENFORCE MANATORY!! STUPID MINISTER!

To register or not let them decide we comply, If I want to use a sim pack without my name there are thousand or way to do it.

If the police want to trace they user, even if the user is not registered, there are ways to do it, They (CIA) can even trace Saddam Hussein's where about. I know of someone who can trade the robber and help the police to nab the robber.

My twenty sens!
